Ok I’ll say it, paint your entire house the same color
To be clear I mean every inch of wall, baseboards, closets, ceilings, kids rooms, bathrooms, every inch. Why do I suggest what most would say is a drastic move? Well because in fact, it’s actually the most understated look you can achieve.
As the owner/partner of a busy and successful paint company in South Florida, I’ve come across a lot of paint. I’ve decided on color for two houses of my own. Picking what and where to put colors is a time consuming task that usually leads to frustration and wasted money.
Once you pick a color, you have more to think about. Baseboard colors, sheens, accent walls. Based on seeing the nicest looking paint jobs from hundreds of our customers, I can confidently say I am in love with the look of a simple, flat color on ceilings, walls, baseboards, doors, even exterior and interior. The walls will let the rest of the house shine without distraction. Go with a shade of white with a tint of grey or beige. Go with stark white. Be daring and go with a very light pink or green. (like Benjamin Moore’s color of the year 2020 FIrst Light 2102-70 https://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/color-overview/find-your-color/color/2102-70/first-light?color=2102-70
So if you’re feeling courageous but also want a completely understated and simple paint job try this idea. Stop obsessing, pick one color, and go with it for your entire home. You will achieve a look for your house that is cleaner, bigger, more modern than you ever thought possible.
Added bonus, the paint job will go faster (and be cheaper!) with fewer areas to tape and cut.
